Travel by train through the beautiful countryside on this three day trip from Athens and delve into the history and natural beauty of Meteora. 1st DAY: Take the train to Kalambaka from Athens in the morning and enjoy a scenic rail ride with countless impressive views of the countryside. Upon arrival, our English-speaking driver will be waiting you holding a signboard with your name and transfer you to your hotel. In the afternoon, meet our expert guide and see places outside the beaten path that only locals know. Enjoy amazing views while you learn the true history and traditions of this astonishing place. You will also have the chance to visit the 1,000 years old Badovas hermitages build inside caves and the old Byzantine church dedicated to Assumption of Virgin Mary in Kalampaka. And then, filled from the beauty, the history and the culture of this place the tour will take you to enjoy unique panoramic views and capture one of the most amazing sunsets you could ever imagine.
2nd DAY: Next morning and after your breakfast, our guide will meet you in the hotel lobby to visit three main monasteries of Meteora and discover the natural beauty and the cultural heritage of this area. This half day morning tour will take you back in the dark ages and the story of the first hermits and monks who laid the foundations of what later on became the monastic community of Meteora. Spend the rest of the day at your leisure.
3rd DAY: You will have all morning at your disposal to relax and explore the town. In the afternoon, our driver will transfer you back to the Kalambaka Rail Station. At 17:15 p.m. the train departs from Kalambaka, and arrives at 21:25 back to Athens.

Entrance to the monasteries: Appropriate clothing is required. Ladies should not wear short skirts and must have long sleeves. Men are not allowed to wear shorts.
Hotel accommodation: A class (4*): Divani Meteora hotel or similar - T class (3*): Orfeas hotel or similar.
Hotel accomodation tax: Paid directly in hotels as following: 5* hotels - 4 Euro per room/per night, 4* hotels - 3 Euro per room/per night, 3* hotels - 1.5 Euro per room/per night.
Departure: The train for Kalambaka departs from the Athens rail station. You need to go at the rail station on your own at 07:00 having your printed train tickets with you.
