Explore with your professional and passionate guide the remains of the ancient city of Mycenae, a major centre of Greek civilization from 1600BC to 1100BC and the archaeological treasure of Epidaurus. Follow in the footsteps of the ancient Greeks on this fascinating and carbon-neutral full day excursion.

Depart from our terminal via the coastal National highway for the strategically important Corinth canal (short stop). After the Corinth Canal, you enter the region of Argolis, land of Homer’s Golden Mycenae, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Dating back to the second century B.C., Mycenae was one of the major centers of Greek civilization and a military stronghold which dominated much of southern Greece. Avoid and skip the lines of the archaeological site, home to the kingdom of mythical Agamemnon. You will see the Cyclopean Walls, the Lion’s Gate, the Royal Tombs, including Agamemnon Clytemnestra's, and the Treasury of Atreus, a magnificent 14th-century B.C. structure.

Afterward, stop in the beautiful sea port of Nauplia the first capital of modern Greece with its Venetian fortress of  PALAMIDI and the fortified islet of BOURTZI (short stop). After a walking tour of the city, you will have lunch in a restaurant beside the sea with amazing views of Bourtzi islet in the middle of the Port. Those who have selected the option without lunch, will have the time to explore further the city or relax having a nice coffee.

Continue on to Epidaurus and visit the ancient theatre. The UNESCO’S world heritage listed monument is reputed to be the birthplace of Apollo's son Asklepios, the healer and was the most celebrated healing center of the classical world. Epidaurus is probably most famous for its theatre, one of the best preserved classical Greek buildings and still used today due to its amazing acoustics. Your day trip ends back to Athens late in the afternoon.

The trip to Mycenae and Epidaurus were well worth it. Christine, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and made the history come alive. There is very little...

The distance between Athens and Mycenae is about 130 km. The journey takes just over two hours.

Wear comfortable footwear and weather-appropriate clothing, as well as sunglasses and sun hat. Additionally, bring a camera, as there will be plenty of photo opportunities. During the summer bring also a water bottle. Please dress warmly in the winter.

On our tours, there'll never be more than 49 travelers per group. However, you'll usually find the average group size at around 40 passengers, which is just the right size to ensure you get the most out of the group travel experience.

Mycenae, a spectacular UNESCO site, is an uphill hike from the Lion Gate. There is a paved path that you can use if you are in a wheelchair which is taking you to some parts of the site. If you are on a cane, you can rest on one of the nice benches with views of the lower ruins and the hills around the sites.

Yes! Looking at the restaurant's menu, you should be able to easily identify the vegan, vegetarian or gluten-free offerings. Alternatively, you can ask your guide to help you or to speak to the manager.
