Set out on a magical journey through time visiting Pella, the glorious kingdom of ancient Macedonia and Vergina, the ancient first capital of the Kingdom of Macedonia.
Departure early in the morning for the village of Pella, the birthplace of Alexander the Great, and visit the archaeological site and the museum. The excavations have brought to light the interesting findings of the ancient city, exhibited at the local museum. You will certainly be impressed by the outstanding mosaic floors that used to decorate the city's grand mansions – the most famous are the ones depicting the Abduction of Helen, Rapture, the Amazonomachy (the battle of Amazons), and the Deer Hunt.
Departure to Vergina, the ancient capital of the Macedonian Kingdom, where nowadays is one of the most beautiful museums of Greece. Visit of the museum, which contains the royal tomb of King Phillip the 2nd, Alexander the Great’s father, along with golden and other artefacts of an incredible beauty and value. Return to Thessaloniki late in the afternoon.

I thoroughly enjoyed this day trip from Thessaloniki but the highlight has to be the visit to the tomb of Philip II. This was a fantastic experience and came alive with the knowledge and explanations of the guide. I enjoyed our time at Pella too but would have liked more time to explore the archealogical site and less time at the museum. The was a dual language tour (Italian/English) but as the majority of travellers were Italian, some explanations and discussions were missed in English or had to be given at a later time.

this was a great tour--in depth, informative and never rushed. The time we spent in Phillip's tomb really brought home what a magnificent, important and sacred place we were visiting. Our guide was fantastic--informed and knowledgeable and super friendly (I'm sorry I can't recall her name right now :( ) I would recommend this trip to anyone and the only thing I can say at all in the negative was I would have liked to have a little more time at the Pella site. But, that is just a small suggestion rather than a complaint. This was a fantastic tour!

First class destinations are on offer here and a must for anyone with even the slightest interest in the ancient world. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, professional and (with one or two guests in particular !) very patient and understanding. I felt the structure of the day could have been better. Too much time was spent in Pella museum and too little at the archaeological site itself. Similarly, a little more coffee break time and lunch time would have been appreciated - twenty minutes for lunch at 3:30 pm is simply too little, too late. All was redeemed, however, by the spectacular, World Class wonders on offer at Vergina. Having an excellent, safe and professional driver was much appreciated.

We made our booking very last minute (around 11pm the night before an 8am departure) and the lovely Anthoula confirmed our booking and even followed up by phone the next morning to check everything was okay. The tour itself was great, including 3 very interesting sites. Our guide Demeter was fantastic, very knowledgable and interesting. We would recommend this tour to anyone!

The tour was great, just should be more time in Edessa, and very unsuccessful lunch place selected in Virgina - expensive and not very tasty.
